Our Program

Our Preschool classes prepare children socially and academically by using a play-based emergent and integrated curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emila approach to early childhood education.

Our curriculum:

  • Emergent, topics of study are defined by the students interests. The curriculum in each class is different every year based on the interests and needs of those children.
  • Designed to meet the standards in the State of California‚Äôs Preschool Learning Foundations published by the California Department of Education.
  • Integrated, or layered learning allows children to pursue learning in a holistic way, without the confines of subject boundaries.
  • Centers based classrooms include: math/manipulatives, science, language arts,, dramatic play, construction/blocks, art, social sciences, music and more.
  • Outdoor classroom includes gross motor, gymnastics, reading nook, painting, sensory and water tables.

Children are enrolled in four classes by their age as of September 1st of the current year.

Parent and Me - 18 to 30 months
Classes are on Tuesday mornings from 9:30am - 11:00am and a guardian must attend with a child. Potty training is not a requirement. Children enrolled in parent and me receive priority registration for entry to preschool.

The Seeds - usually 2 1/2 to young 3 year olds
Our youngest children, the Seeds, are in classroom 4. Children must be 2 and 1/2 years old and potty trained, wearing underwear and able to attend to all their own toileting needs. Generally the Seeds are 2 1/2 to young 3 year olds.

The Sprouts - usually older 3's and young 4 year olds
Our 2nd oldest students are the Sprouts in classroom 3. Some of these children may be leaving for Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten, but most will stay here one more year.

The Sycamores - usually the "middle range" 4 year olds
The Sycamore's in classroom 2 are the 3rd oldest children at our school. Most of this class is going to Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten the following year.

The Sunflowers - usually the oldest 4 and 5 year olds
