Preschool Programs

Our Preschool classes prepare children socially and academically by using a play-based emergent curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emila approach to early childhood education with a balance of child directed and teacher-initiated developmentally appropriate activities.

About our curriculum:

  • Emergent, topics of study are based on the students interests. Every years curriculum will be different based on the interests and needs of the children in the class.
  • Designed to meet the standards in the State of California‚Äôs Preschool Learning Foundations published by the California Department of Education.
  • Children are observed and assessed on an ongoing basis with parent/teacher conferences being offered in January.
  • Centers based classrooms include: math/manipulatives, science, pre-writing/writing, fine motor, dramatic play, blocks, art, music, reading, manipulatives, classroom animals.
  • Our outdoor classroom includes gross motor, gymnastics, reading nook, painting, sensory and water tables.
  • 6:1 student/teacher ratio

Children are divided by age into these classes:

Parent and Me
Our Parent and Me class is for children ages 18 to 30 months. Classes are Tues OR Thursday from 9:30am - 11:00am and a guardian must attend with a child, Potty training is not a requirement, but children are encouraged to use our toddler sized classroom potty. Children enrolled in parent and me receive priority registration for entry to preschool.

The Seeds
Our youngest children, The Seeds, are in Room 4. Children must be 2 and 1/2 years old and potty trained, wearing underwear and able to attend to all their own toileting needs.

The Sprouts
Our 2nd oldest students continue in The Sprouts classroom in Room 3 on their learning journey in an environment that is set up to promote their imagination and natural inquisitiveness. Children work in large groups plus individually with teachers in small groups in content areas.

The Sunflowers
Our Sunflower classes 1 and 2 are the oldest children at our school. In this classroom, small groups are brought together during the day to work one on one with the teachers in selected content areas.
